A resin accessory in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer GasPatch models. It is not a kit but a set of castings of the aviation Lewis machine gun in the form designated RNAS, that is after the Royal Naval Air Service. According to the name there are two pieces in the package. The part replaces the plastic machine gun from the base model in places where the weapon is clearly visible.
The Lewis was a British light air-cooled machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber, recognizable by the pan magazine above the body of the weapon. The Royal Naval Air Service used its own modifications of airborne machine guns, which differed in the treatment of the cooling, the mounting and the supplementary equipment. The designation RNAS Pattern in the name refers to exactly such a form from the First World War period.
Once the parts are washed and dry, do not underestimate the base coat. Resin has a smooth surface that absorbs little, and paint adheres to it poorly on its own. Apply a thin layer of modeling primer, ideally with an airbrush or from a spray can at a greater distance, so that the fine lines of the cooling fins and the perforations are not filled in. A heavy layer will reliably wipe the detail out. Let the base coat harden for at least a day, and only then build the color layers up. A lighter primer also reveals remains of the casting block and sanding marks, which would otherwise not be visible on dark resin.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
