Luftwaffe Balkenkreuze Mid — Part III 1:72 is a set of self-adhesive masks for spraying German national crosses in the mid pattern, the third part of the series. An accessory for painting a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Czech manufacturer Armycast for aircraft models in 1:72 scale. It holds cut self-adhesive stencils for the German bar cross in the mid pattern and is the third part of this section of the series. The insignia is sprayed in paint through the mask straight onto the paintwork of the model, so the result has no carrier film, does not silver and does not form a step on the surface.
The national cross appears on an aircraft in several places — on the fuselage and on both sides of the wings — and in a different size in each position. One sheet of masks therefore covers neither the whole model nor the whole range of types, and for that reason the manufacturer divides each pattern into several separate sets. Before buying, compare the illustration of the set with the documentation for the machine you are building, or combine several parts of the series.
Crosses on the wings often lie across panel lines and across the boundaries of the camouflage, where a mask has the hardest job. It pays to unify the surface first with a light coat of varnish so that it is smooth, and only then to apply the mask. Spray little paint and in many thin coats; a heavy coat forms a ridge on the edge that can be both felt and seen once the mask is off. When you have finished, let the insignia rest and only then go on with a wash and pigments — the cross settles down under the weathering and fits the overall look better.
The package holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
