1:72 MiG-15 vacuformed clear canopy

Quinta Studio 1:72 MiG-15 vacuum-formed canopy

A vacuum-formed (vacuform) clear canopy of the cockpit from the manufacturer Quinta Studio for a model of the jet fighter MiG-15 in 1:72 scale. As a replacement for the glazing from the corresponding kit it is thinner, clearer and renders the framing more faithfully. It is a detail accessory, not a complete model.

The real subject

The MiG-15 was a Soviet jet fighter aircraft from the end of the 1940s, one of the first successful jet fighters with a swept wing. It made its mark during the war in Korea and became one of the most widespread fighters of its day.

Use and building

• Cut the canopy out carefully close to the edge with a sharp knife or scissors for photo-etched parts.
• Vacuum-formed parts are thin, so you sand the edge down gradually.
• Glue with thin cyanoacrylate glue or with glue for clear parts, so that the clear part does not go dull.
• In the small 1:72 scale work with tweezers and press the part down so that it adheres well.

Who it is for

• For modelers who want the thinnest and clearest glazing possible in a small scale.
• For builders whom the thicker part from the original kit does not suit.

It is a detail accessory. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
