This item is not a kit but an accessory set in etched sheet for a model of the MiG-21 jet fighter in the SM and SMT versions in 1:72 scale. The set is cut for one particular kit, Revell RVMP72030, and the aircraft model is bought separately. The accessory is made by the Czech company Brengun.
Modern jets have a great many features that are as thin as sheet metal in reality, and in 1:72 scale plastic cannot imitate that. They include small antennas, covers, grilles and panels on the skin. A photo-etched set can offer such details in a matching thickness and with sharp edges. The exact contents of the package are given on the packaging of the set; they are not stated here.
Degrease the etched sheet first and only then work with it, as fingerprints show through paint. Cut the parts off with a scalpel and sand the area where the stub was with a fine file so that the photo-etched part sits properly. Fit thin rod-like features such as antennas at the very end of the build, otherwise you will break them off during handling. On jets with a glossy metal finish it pays to spray the photo-etched parts with a primer in the same shade as the surroundings, and the transition is then invisible. A wash into the panel lines at the end unifies the whole surface.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a model kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
