1:72 Fiat G.50 (Freccia Over Finland) is a kit of the Italian fighter in Finnish service from the Czech maker AML.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Italian Fiat G.50 fighter in 1:72 scale, aimed at the machines that served in Finland. The release fits into a series in which the same maker offers the G.50 over Italy and over Spain as well, so a collector can build the whole trio in a single scale.
The G.50 was the first Italian all-metal fighter with retractable landing gear. It was powered by the air-cooled Fiat A.74 radial engine and the armament consisted of a pair of 12.7 mm machine guns firing through the propeller disc. The machine stood out for its agility and pleasant handling, but it lagged behind contemporary opponents in performance and in firepower. The Finnish Air Force obtained the type at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s and used it in fighting against the Soviet Air Force; in harsh northern conditions its reliable engine and simple structure won it a good reputation among the crews.
First dry-fit the parts and level the mating surfaces with a file, so that the fuselage and the wing sit without strain. The cockpit glazing is small, so prepare a glue that does not fog clear parts. Finnish schemes rest on the contrast of dark upper surfaces with a light underside and on bold markings, which call for a smooth gloss base. The weathered surface of the northern machines will be helped by a fine lightening of the panel centers and discreet traces of maintenance around the engine cowling.
The kit is sold unassembled and unpainted, without glue, paints and other accessories.
