A masking set in the Advanced release for the model of the two-seat MiG-25 in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker New Ware. This is not a kit but an accessory for painting. Advanced stands between the Basic and Expert variants, so its extent of coverage is wider than that of the basic set. The specific list of masked areas is given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The two-seat trainer version of the MiG-25 with the designation RU arose by modification of the reconnaissance branch of the type. The instructor's cockpit is built in ahead of the original pilot's position, which changes the outline of the nose and adds further glazed panels. A model of such an aircraft therefore has more frames on a small area than the single-seat version, and the masking takes incomparably more time. That is the main reason why pre-cut masks pay off even more with two-seat machines than with the common variants.
The most frequent mistake in masking is not a badly stuck stencil but too heavy a coat of paint. A thick coat creates a ridge on the edge of the mask which breaks off on removal and the line is ragged. So spray thinly and rather three times than once. The second common trouble is running underneath in the place where the mask bends over a convex panel. There it helps to press the edge down once more with a blunt tool just before spraying. If the paint runs underneath all the same, make the repair with a thin brush only after it has dried completely, as wet paint spreads along the whole line. Remove the masks slowly and pulled back over themselves, not perpendicularly upward.
This is a masking set, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
