Decals in 1:72 scale for the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter monoplane, nicknamed the Rata.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the Polikarpov I-16. The theme is Soviet machines and their markings, that is the decoration that a kit in its basic boxing usually does not offer. For the I-16 that goes double, because on a small, stocky aircraft the colored emblems and lettering are the main thing that tells individual machines apart.
The I-16 was a Soviet single-engine low-wing fighter with a short, barrel-shaped fuselage and retractable landing gear, which was a progressive combination in its day. The nickname Rata was given to it by its opponents in the Spanish Civil War, and it stuck. The aircraft turned quickly and was dangerous in the hands of an experienced pilot, but it was also demanding to fly and grew obsolete as the war went on.
The wet method is the usual one: cut the element out close to the printing, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it stand until it starts to slide freely off the backing. Slide it onto a dampened spot on the model, straighten it with a soft brush and blot off the excess water. Gloss varnish under the decal will limit silvering, and a decal softener helps in broken places. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version; a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined beyond repair.
For modelers who build Soviet aircraft of the 1930s and 1940s in 1:72 scale. The particular machines and the placing of the elements are described in the instructions in the package.
The package holds decals. The kit, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included, unless stated otherwise.
