An injection-molded plastic model of the French twin-engine Potez 540 in 1:72 scale from Smer. It is an older generation of mold with a simpler treatment of the surface (raised panel lines), typical of traditional plastic kits. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents of the package and the markings on offer, follow the enclosed instructions and the details on the box.
The Potez 540 was a French twin-engine high-wing aircraft of the first half of the 1930s, designed as a utility machine; it was used in the role of a bomber and of a reconnaissance aircraft alike. It was marked by an angular fuselage, fixed landing gear and glazed gun positions. It entered service with the French Air Force in the mid-1930s and was used, among other places, during the Spanish Civil War and in the early part of the Second World War, when it already lagged behind more modern fighter defenses.
With older molds it pays to clean off the flash and to check the fit of the fuselage and wing parts; fill and sand any small gaps. Glue with liquid modeling cement for plastic, which softens the edges and strengthens the joint. Lay down a primer before painting and spray the covering coat ideally with an airbrush using thinned paints. Raised panel lines are brought out with light dry brushing; mask the cockpit transparencies before spraying.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
