A plastic kit of the British twin-engine Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer high-wing aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Valom, in a version matching the machines of the Royal Air Force. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the exact contents of the package and the number of marking options are given on the box.
The Twin Pioneer was designed as a multi-purpose transport aircraft for short and unpaved airfields. It first flew in the mid-1950s and its main strength was its outstanding take-off and landing behavior: a high-set wing with extensive high-lift devices, fixed tailwheel landing gear and two Alvis Leonides Major radial engines. The Royal Air Force used it for transport and liaison duties at remote bases where no paved runways were available. The tail surfaces and the boxy fuselage with its large windows give it an unmistakable look.
It pays to dry-fit all the main parts first and to sand down any unevenness on the mating surfaces: with models of this kind that is a normal part of the work. Finish and paint the interior and the cabin fittings before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing and fit it only after the base coat has been sprayed; a glue for clear parts, which does not fog transparencies, is the right choice here. Coat the model with gloss varnish before the decals and unify the surface with a matte one once it has dried.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
