Pre-cut films for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIb in 1:72 scale. They cover the glazing, a complete set of national insignia and decals for small lettering supplement them, all cut to the parts of the Tamiya kit.

The Mk.II differed from the first series by a stronger Merlin XII engine, the start of production at the new Castle Bromwich works and the so-called cartridge starter, whose magazine made a small bulge on the left-hand side of the engine cowling. The letter b in the designation then means a rearmed wing, where a pair of twenty millimeter barrels replaced four machine guns. The machines served from the autumn of 1940, among other places with convoy protection squadrons.
Inside you will find film for the glazing for the outer surface, one complete set of masks for the markings and with them decals intended for small lettering. The shape matches the Tamiya moldings.
In 1:72 scale, meanwhile, the whole difference between the a and b variants shrinks to the bulges over the weapons, which measure a few tenths of a millimeter. In the end the model is identified mainly by the sprayed and stuck-on markings, not by the shape of the wing. Accurately applied roundels and code letters carry more weight in this format than any modification of the molding.
The question of when to reach for a bulkier format has a fairly clear answer here. As long as you care about the silhouette, the camouflage and the unit it belonged to, a small model is entirely enough and moreover fits into a display case by the dozen. As soon as you want an open canopy, a view into the cockpit and the seat straps distinguishable, physics works against you: in this scale such a cavity would be only a few millimeters deep and there would be nothing to see in it anyway. The set therefore deals with what has a real effect in a small format, that is clean edges to the glazing and the color of the markings.
The kit of the fighter and paints have to be added separately.
