Die-cut self-adhesive films for the cockpit glazing of the twin-engine Japanese Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu fighter in 1:48 scale. They cover the framing from outside and inside and the shapes are cut for the kit by the brand Nichimo.
Responsibility details are not available.
At the end of the 1930s the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force was looking for a twin-engine machine that would fly farther than a single-seat fighter and carry heavier armament. The answer was the Ki-45 with the name Toryu, in translation dragon slayer. The production KAI form reached the units during 1942 and the Allied command introduced the code name Nick for it.
Over Burma and New Guinea the type served as a ground-attack and anti-shipping weapon, but it earned its real reputation only over the home islands. Crews fitted cannon in the fuselage aimed obliquely upward and with them attacked formations of four-engine bombers from below, outside the field of fire of the defensive turrets. Around 1700 were built in all, from reconnaissance machines to heavily armed night versions.
The films follow the shape of the glazing and are applied directly to the frames of the canopy. They cover the clear area from both sides, so after spraying it stays transparent from outside and when looking into the cockpit. It is precisely the two-seat cockpit with its long spine canopy and rich framing that saves the modeler hours of tidying up by hand.
Before applying it is enough to degrease the glazing and let it dry. The plastic parts of the aircraft are not in the package.
