T-54B decals in 1:72 scale from AMMO of Mig Jimenez

This product is a decal sheet for the Soviet T-54B medium tank in the reduced 1:72 scale. It is not a kit and it contains no plastic or resin parts. You will use the markings on a model you already have built and painted.

The real subject

The T-54B is a later production version of the Soviet T-54 medium tank, a key postwar type with a cast hemispherical turret and a low silhouette compared with Western machines of the day. Against the earlier versions it received stabilization of the main gun in two planes and night vision equipment with an infrared searchlight. The type became the basis for the later T-55 and, in various modifications, served for decades with a large number of armies, which opens a wide field of options in paint and markings for the modeler.

Usage tips

In 1:72 scale the decals are small, so cut them out with a fresh sharp blade and handle them with tweezers that have smooth jaws. The base must be glossy, otherwise a white veil appears under the carrier film. Soak the motif only briefly, let it rest on paper and transfer it with a damp brush. A tiny number folds over easily, so straighten it with a drop of water and not with pressure. Once it has dried, go over the area with a matte varnish, and only then do the wash in the recesses and the dusting of the chassis. There is no point in heavily weathering small markings afterwards, because they would lose their legibility.
