Resin wheel chocks for the carrier-based Su-33 in 1:72 scale from LP Models complete a scene with an aircraft parked on deck. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of resin castings of wheel chocks in the pattern for carrier-based Su-33 fighters. It is an accessory for aircraft models in 1:72 scale; the model of the aircraft itself is not included in the package. The pattern differs from the chocks used by land-based units, which the manufacturer sells as a separate item.
The Su-33 is a carrier fighter derived from the Su-27 and adapted to operating from an aircraft carrier: it has a strengthened landing gear and folding surfaces because of the limited room. It is precisely on a pitching deck that securing a parked aircraft against movement matters most, so chocks and tie-down fittings are part of the normal equipment. On a model it is a small thing, yet it changes the effect a great deal: the model stops hovering above the base and starts standing on it.
Wash the castings in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and wet-sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue or epoxy. The deck environment is harsh, so aim the painting at a worn look: filler primer, a base shade, a dark wash, fine chipping and a dusting of pigment along the lower edges. Fit the chocks to the model only after painting and check that they sit flat on their whole underside.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
