An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat McDonnell F-4 Phantom II jet aircraft in the unusual 1:96 scale from the Turkish manufacturer PM Model. The boxing is listed under the label Kara Sahin. It is an undemanding model suitable even for modelers who are only starting with military aircraft. The number of parts, the make-up of the decals and the dimensions of the finished model are stated on the packaging of the kit.
The F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engine two-seat jet aircraft with a characteristic drooping horizontal tail and upturned outer wing panels. It originally came about as a carrier machine and later became one of the most widespread combat aircraft of the second half of the twentieth century, used in many countries including Turkey. Typical features are two large side air intakes, a twin cockpit and rugged nose landing gear.
With older molds it pays to put the parts together dry first and to check the fit especially on the fuselage halves and the intakes. Sand the flash and the mold seams down with fine abrasive paper and fill the gaps. On plastic use thin modeling cement applied by capillary action. Before painting, spray the whole model with a base coat, which will even out the surface and reveal any remaining unevenness. Paint the cockpit and the gear bays and close them up before you join the fuselage. Apply gloss clear coat under the decals and, once they have dried, unify the model with a matte or satin clear coat according to the scheme you have chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
