Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk in the B and C versions in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit or a spare part; it is an accessory that secures a crisp sprayed line on the glazing frames. The contents of the package are stated on the box of the set.
The A-4B and A-4C belong to the early forms of the Skyhawk. The Skyhawk is a single-seat aircraft with a delta wing, designed deliberately small and light, and in 1:72 scale it comes out a genuinely tiny model. The early versions differ from the later ones in, among other things, the equipment of the nose, which carries over into the shape of the adjoining glazing - which is why mask makers produce sets separately for the early and for the later versions.
On such a small canopy it makes sense to think of masking as a jigsaw: every part covers one section of the frame and only together do they make up the whole. Do not try to shorten or join anything, as even a small change of shape upsets the way the following parts line up. Lift the masks off the backing with the point of a scalpel and handle them with tweezers, not with your fingers. Offer each one up dry first, check whether the edge sits on the engraved frame, and then press it home with a toothpick in short strokes. Lay the paint on in thin coats; on a small canopy any excess material shows as a visible ridge at the edge. Take the masks off as soon as the paint has set.
It is not a kit. The package holds only the masking set; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
