A small injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary de Havilland Mosquito in 1:144 scale from the Czech maker Mark I Models. The edition focuses on unusual and attractive color schemes that make the model stand out in a collection and in a small display case. The molds are fine, the parts compact and the build quick, so it is a rewarding project even for a single evening.
The Mosquito was a British all-wooden multirole aircraft of the Second World War powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. The B.IV version served as a fast bomber, while the PR.IV was its reconnaissance conversion with photographic equipment in place of the bomb bay. Thanks to its high speed the Mosquito often did without defensive armament and relied on simply outrunning its opponent.
Separate the small parts with a sharp knife and check the fit dry. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and sand the joints with a fine abrasive. Before the decals, airbrush a thin coat of primer and a gloss coat so that the markings settle without silvering. At this scale thin coats of paint and a subtle emphasis of the panel lines show to advantage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
