A decal alphabet of uppercase letters in black, 8 mm high. Within the line it is the largest size offered and the use matches: lettering across a whole gable, the marking of gates, large letters on a trailer or on the gable of a hall. Eight millimeters is the real dimension of a letter, not a scale, so in 1:35 it corresponds to a character roughly 28 cm high and in larger scales logically to a smaller one.
While a viewer takes small text as a texture, an eight-millimeter letter is an object of its own in the composition. A badly placed large piece of lettering therefore harms a scene more than a small label ever helps it. Lay it out so that it respects the architecture of the base, that is so that it stays within the area between windows or between the frames of gates and does not run over edges and joints. With large letters it also pays to consider whether the lettering should not be partly damaged or interrupted, because a whole area in perfect condition looks like fresh signage.
The larger the decal, the more air can get trapped under it. The base therefore has to be really glossy and flat; seat the decal in a sufficient pool of water and press the water out from the center toward the edges with a soft cloth or a cotton bud rather than with a finger. Pierce any bubble that forms anyway with the tip of a knife and press it down while the film is still wet. On an uneven surface use a decal softener, because with a large character the pull into the texture shows best. Once dry, matte it and weather the edges of the lettering gently so that it blends with the base.
