This item covers the variant of the machine with the lengthened frame. That is exactly what distinguishes it from the shorter version; otherwise it is the same type of deck tractor of US naval aviation, and the two renditions are separate items.
The design follows from a single requirement: get a heavy aircraft into place in a crowded space and not get in the way while doing it. Hence the flat outline, the center of gravity set low and an operator's station without a cab. A longer frame means greater weight and steadier running while towing, which comes in useful with larger machines and when handling them on the elevators. On deck these machines work without a break, so they tend to be scuffed, dirtied by fuel and by sea damp, and they carry conspicuous warning markings.
Start by inspecting the parts against the light and removing the marks left by the print supports. Separate thin elements such as the handles or the tow eyes with a sharp knife and glue them with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) applied with a pin. Sand with respiratory protection and then wash the dust off the surface thoroughly. Spray in thin layers so that the engraved detail is not lost; a final rich wash into the recesses of the frame will draw out the relief that a uniform color would hide.
