A full-color set with a three-dimensional layer from the maker Kits-World for the instrument panel of a Tornado GR.4 kit in 1:32 scale. According to the name this is the cockpit configuration with the modification designated TARDIS and with the displays in the switched-off state. The relief of the layer will give the instruments a three-dimensional look and the whole panel is finished in the course of one evening, which with a densely occupied panel is a great difference from painting the individual gauges.
The Tornado GR.4 is a two-seat strike and reconnaissance aircraft of the Royal Air Force with a variable-geometry wing. During its service it went through several modifications of the avionics and the displays, so the cockpits of the individual machines differ from one another. The designation TARDIS in the name refers to one of these later modifications of the display part of the cockpit.
Sand the raised cast gauges on the part smooth, spray them with a dark paint and varnish them with a gloss varnish. Transfer the set with a minimum of water, draw the excess off and seat it by pressing a soft cloth on. Dose the softener drop by drop and let it act; a relief layer is easily rippled by being brushed over with a brush or a swab. Let the panel dry through and only then continue work on the cockpit. Lead the final matte varnish around the panel, not across the glasses of the instruments. Given the tandem arrangement, it pays off to plan in advance in what order you will finish the two stations.
A variant with active displays and further very similar sets also exist for the same aircraft; tell them apart by the exact designation of the variant. This is an accessory for a kit, not a model on its own; a kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
