This is a set of decals, not cast or printed parts. The designs are printed in full color and carry a slight relief, so once dry they come across on a figure as more three-dimensional than a classic flat decal. The set is intended for figures in 1:35 scale and is devoted to the personal equipment of the enlisted men of the German land army in the form it carried in the years 1938 to 1940.
Small equipment is technically the most demanding part of painting on a figure in 1:35 scale. Ammunition pouches, straps and containers have dimensions of the order of a millimeter and the difference between leather, canvas and painted metal is held with a brush only with difficulty. A decal gets around this problem: the color separation of the materials is printed in advance and a modeler deals only with the seating and the cleaning up. The designation of a second part means that the line is divided into several sets; this is therefore an addition to the further sheets of the same maker, not a complete coverage of the equipment.
Proceed as with a quality decal, only more considerately. First level the surface under the decal with a gloss varnish, otherwise silvering under the layer is a risk. Release the decal in warm water and move it into place with a brush without pressure. Apply the softener drop by drop from above and let it work by itself; a relief layer is pliable and running a brush over it will wrinkle it or shift it. Give the decal time on curves and transitions, in two doses if need be. Once it is perfectly dry, unify the whole with a matte varnish, so that the gloss base is lost and the surface of the equipment matches the surrounding textile.
These are decals, not a model or a figure. Paints, varnishes, a softener and the figures themselves are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
