A cockpit accessory from Kits-World for models of the Harrier in the GR.3 version in 1:48 scale. The color print with relief is transferred like a decal and does the work a modeler would otherwise do with a brush: legible dials, a dark panel, contrasting controls. It is neither a kit nor a casting but an accessory for a model you already own.
Placing the motif is not only a question of where but also of the order of work. Markings and lettering on the fuselage come last, after the paint and the gloss coat, when the model is practically finished. The instrument panel is the opposite: it has to be in place before the fuselage halves are joined and the canopy fitted, because after that the cockpit is out of reach. Anyone who thinks this sequence through in advance avoids the commonest mistake, which is finding out that a finished cockpit can no longer be improved.
Sand the original molded panel flat, spray the surface with gloss paint and let it dry thoroughly. Cut the decal out, soak it briefly and let it rest, slide it onto the damp base and align it with a brush drawn along the edge. Blot the water away with a tissue laid on. Put a drop of softener around the perimeter; a brush is never drawn across the relief. Only once it is dry should you finish the seat belts, the levers and any worn edges, so that it all looks like one piece.
An accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. The manufacturer makes several similar sheets; choose by the exact version designation.
