This set from Kits-World adds to the inside of the cockpit of a model of the Japanese carrier-borne Mitsubishi A6M3 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor photo-etched parts: they are full-color decals with a raised relief for the instrument panel and other visible areas of the cockpit. A finished cockpit thus gets legible gauges, lettering and color accents without your ever reaching for the finest brush.
The A6M was a single-engine carrier-borne fighter with a radial engine, built as a light and agile design with a long range. Compared with the earlier version, the A6M3 variant had a modified engine and, on part of the production run, clipped wingtips as well. The cockpit is fairly small and uncluttered, so with the canopy open practically all of it is visible and every detail tells.
When the decal is in place, the work is not over. The remaining water and any air bubbles have to be squeezed out from under the film, otherwise they will stay as dull gray patches once it dries. Always work from the center outward, with a soft cotton swab or a dampened cloth, using only minimal pressure. With relief decals, do not press over the raised dials themselves but around them. The base has to be gloss, otherwise the air will not get out from under the film at all.
This is a decal set, not a kit and not a finished model. Paints, varnishes and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
