The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is one of the best-known heavy bombers of the Second World War. The four-engine machine with its extensive nose glazing and dense defensive armament flew daylight raids over Europe in tight formations that covered one another with gunfire. The F version is told apart from the later G by the fact that it does not yet have a twin-gun turret under the nose; its nose therefore has a cleaner and more glazed shape, which modelers have taken to.

Before you wet the sheet, check the instructions to see whether it is a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined for good. With an ordinary wet decal, cut the motif out together with a little of the carrier film, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest aside until it begins to slide freely. Apply it onto smooth gloss varnish, squeeze the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges and finally unify the completed model with matte varnish. Stick large nose art down in one go, otherwise the film will ripple.
The sheet will be appreciated by builders of Fortresses in 1:72 scale for whom the markings from the box are not enough or who want to build a particular machine. It also suits anyone who wants to keep the decals from the box in reserve and use a fresher sheet for the actual job. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
