An item from the Mantis Miniatures range of figures. According to the name the subject is an officer figure of a field gendarmerie unit, that is of the military police. The figure is supplied unpainted and is intended to complete a diorama or a vignette; it is neither a vehicle model nor a hardware kit.
Officer figures differ from the rank and file above all in the cut of the uniform, in the footwear and in the smaller amount of equipment carried: instead of pouches and full field kit there is a belt with a pistol holster, a map case and headgear of a different pattern. In 1:35 scale a standing figure measures roughly fifty millimeters, which is enough for a well-worked face and for the small details of the equipment.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry thoroughly, otherwise the primer will not adhere. Apply the primer thinly, so that the features of the face are not clogged. Build the uniform up from a mid gray-green, deepen the shadows with a darker shade of the same color and lighten the edges by adding ocher or gray. Paint the leather parts, that is the belt, the holster and the footwear, in dark brown to brownish black and finish them with matte varnish so that they do not stay shiny. Build the face in three steps: a mid flesh tone, shadow in the eye sockets and under the chin, light on the forehead, nose and cheekbones. Seal the small metal items of equipment with a dark metallic tone and a spot highlight on the edges.
The figure is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
