New Ware kabuki masks for the Lockheed P-2 (SP-2) Neptune in 1:72 scale, EXPERT grade, are a self-adhesive masking set for the Hasegawa kit, in the widest extent the manufacturer makes for this real subject.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a masking set made of Japanese kabuki paper. It holds with a mild adhesive, takes a slight bend over a curved area and leaves no residue once it is taken off. The set is prepared for the twin-engined Lockheed P-2 patrol aircraft and its SP-2 versions from the Hasegawa kit in 1:72 scale. The manufacturer makes several grades of extent for one real subject, and this item is the EXPERT, that is the highest of them. The grade of the set is the main distinguishing detail, because all the variants are named the same and it is precisely the grade that tells them apart.
The Neptune was an American patrol and anti-submarine aircraft with a long service. It has a glazed nose, an extensively glazed cockpit and, on the later versions, auxiliary turbojets in underwing nacelles. A model of this real subject therefore has plenty of transparent areas and frames, and masking them by hand with tape is tedious and an edge easily slips.
Lift the mask off the carrier film with tweezers, lay it on dry and press it down with a soft wooden stick, so that the edge bears down along its whole length. Apply the paint in thin coats, as a thick coat will run under the edge. Remove the mask shortly after the paint has dried, not once it has cured, and by pulling it at a sharp angle. Any remains of adhesive can be removed with lukewarm water.
The set contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
