An interior accessory for models of British aircraft of the First World War in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit of an aircraft but wicker seats on their own with a full back. This combination is specific in the differing pad: the short variant has a small leather pad, the tall one a big one. Anyone dealing with a particular type of cockpit chooses precisely by this small detail.
On British aircraft the wicker seats differed not only in the height of the back but also in how widely the top edge was protected by leather. Injected plastic from the box wipes these differences out: a mold manages either a coarsely suggested weave or a smooth shell, and the leather pad in it tends to be no more than a slight thickening of the edge. A resin part made separately can have thin rods, openings in the weave and a clearly set-off pad in both sizes. In an open cockpit in 1:32 scale it is an element everyone looks at, so the effort shows at once. On top of that you get two different forms in one package, so you can choose according to your real subject.
Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent. Separate them from the carrying block with a fine saw, as the weave is fragile. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; the gel variant gives time for setting the seat true to the axis of the fuselage. Do the painting by materials: an ocher or straw base for the weave, a brown wash in the gaps, a dry brush with a lighter shade on the raised fibers, and the leather pad separately in a darker brown with a satin sheen. The big pad on the tall variant will take a light emphasis of wear on the edge as well. A matte varnish on the wicker and a satin one on the leather at the end.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted, and glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
