1:35 Totenkopf grenadiers Demjansk set is a multi-figure resin set of German grenadiers in 1:35 from the PANZER ART brand. The marking in the name describes the execution of the clothing and the equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains figures of German grenadiers in 1:35, cast in modeling resin. The word set in the name marks the multi-figure variant — separate figures of the same series are sold apart under sequence numbers. It is not a vehicle kit but an add-on to a finished model or for a diorama.
The execution as a painting task
The set is rewarding mainly because of the clothing: long greatcoats and layered equipment give large areas with pronounced folds on which shading, drybrushing and work with glazes all stand out. The resin castings hold a finer texture of the cloth, the straps and the fittings than injection-molded plastic. The figures are modeled so that together they form a composition, so they suit one scene beside a vehicle or a terrain element.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off at the mold seam line with a saw or a knife, level the faces with a file and fine sandpaper; sand the resin wet and with protection for your breathing. Glue with super glue and fill the seams with filler. Apply a thin primer and build the clothing from a darker ground toward lighter crests of the folds. Take the camouflage pattern as a painting job in its own right — the base tone, then the patches, and finally the softening of the transitions with thinned paint. Handle the faces with glazes of flesh shades. Bring the details out with a dark glaze into the recesses and bring the surface together with a matte clear coat. Lay the figures out dry before gluing; a composition is easier to tune in advance.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
