A separate figure of a British tank crew member in 1:35, cast in modeling resin. The name settles two things: the role in the crew (the loader) and the execution of the clothing — a one-piece work coverall. It is not a vehicle kit but a figure for a finished model or for a diorama. The same series also includes a commander figure and multi-figure variants, so a crew can be built up item by item.
Workmanship and use
A coverall is rewarding to paint — it is a large continuous area with pronounced seams, pockets and folds at the waist and the elbows, on which shading and drybrushing both sit well. A resin casting holds the finer texture of the cloth and the small fittings better than injection-molded plastic. The pose of the figure reckons with placement in the space of a hatch or beside a turret, so check before gluing how it sits into the particular opening on your model.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the remains of mold release agent disappear. Cut the casting blocks off at the mold seam line with a saw or a knife and level the face with a file; sand the resin wet and with your airways protected. Glue with super glue and fill the seams with filler. After a thin primer, paint the coverall from a darker ground toward lighter crests of the folds, and build the face with glazes of flesh tones. Bring the recesses and the seams out with a thin dark glaze, lighten the edges carefully and finally bring the surface together with a matte clear coat — a coverall is meant to be matte, and gloss would look out of place on cloth.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
