A cast stowage bin meant for the rear of the turret of the American M4 Sherman medium tank with the 75 mm armament, in 1:35 scale. A bin on the rear of the turret is among the most typical additions to the Sherman and on a model it markedly changes the silhouette of the turret seen from the side as well as from above.
The crews needed somewhere to keep personal belongings and small equipment for which there was no room inside the cramped vehicle. Bins on the rear of the turret were fitted in the field as well as at the factory, and their design differed according to the unit and to who made them. It is exactly this variety that makes them a rewarding detail, one that tells two otherwise identical vehicles apart at once.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface. Try the fit on the rear of the turret dry and bond with super glue. Paint the bin in the base color of the vehicle, rub the edges back to bare metal with a sponge and apply a dark wash into the seams. Suggest the mounting with thin wire, so that the bin does not look merely glued on.
The set is an accessory to a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
