A set of resin wheels for a model of the American M1078 LMTV tactical truck in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a detail accessory meant to be swapped for the plastic parts from the box. The castings carry the tread of Michelin tires along with shaped discs, so they sort out the place where the parting line of the mold and a softened tread relief show most on injection molded plastic.
The M1078 LMTV is the lighter member of the American family of tactical trucks, a two-axle vehicle with all-wheel drive and an angular cab with marked protection. It serves to carry cargo and troops, carries the most varied bodies and in upgraded versions an armored cab as well. A characteristic feature of these vehicles is the large single-mounted tires with a coarse off-road tread and a pressure system that can be adjusted on the move, which make up a large part of the visual impression of the vehicle. The tread pattern differs according to the tire supplier, which is why replacement wheels are offered in variants — this one matches the Michelin tread.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm water with dish soap and cut the casting blocks off with a fine-bladed saw so that the round outline of the tread is kept. Finish the leveling with a file, sand with your airways protected and glue with super glue. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the tire in a gray-black shade instead of pure black, spray the discs separately and pull the transition between rubber and disc down with a dark wash. Once the gloss is knocked back with a matte varnish, add dust pigments on the sidewall and heavier mud in the tread and on the lower part of the wheel — on wheeled vehicles the running gear is the main carrier of wear.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
