A set of weapons and equipment of American paratroopers of the Second World War in 1:35 scale from the maker Gecko Models. It is an accessory to figures and dioramas, not a kit of a vehicle or of figures in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set in 1:35 scale meant to bring figures, vehicle interiors and dioramas from the period of the Second World War to life. It adds small arms and personal equipment of American airborne units, that is exactly the small things that decide the credibility of a finished scene: a weapon laid against a wall, ammunition pouches on the equipment of a figure or material stacked on the bed of a vehicle. The set is not a model in its own right and cannot be built as a whole; it serves as a source of details for other kits in the same scale. Check the exact make-up of the package on the box of the set.
American airborne units were committed during the Second World War in Italy, in Normandy, in the Netherlands and in the Ardennes. Their armament and equipment differed in part from that of ordinary infantry, because it had to survive a parachute jump: besides the M1 Garand rifle there was the M1A1 carbine with a folding wire stock, the Thompson submachine gun, a light machine gun, the Bazooka antitank rocket launcher and a great many pouches, holsters and bags for ammunition. Modelers need this material not only for figures but also as loose load on vehicles and in scenes.
Nip the parts off piece by piece with sharp cutters and level the gate remnants with a file, as on small weapons a barrel is easily snapped off. They are glued with thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the joint by capillary action. A primer coat is advisable before painting, as otherwise the paint holds poorly on smooth plastic. Build wooden stocks on a brown base and complete them with a glaze toward a warmer tone, leave metal in dark steel and polish it lightly with graphite or pigment, and keep textile parts in a muted olive brown. A wash in the hollows and a dry brush on the edges lift the relief, which in this scale is otherwise barely visible.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Figures, a vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
