This set from Elefant replaces the plastic caps of the fuel filler necks on the engine deck with more accurate resin castings. According to the name the contents are enough for two vehicles. It is not a tank kit but a small detail accessory for a plastic model in 1:35 scale - and yet parts like these on the engine deck are what decides whether a model looks convincing, because they are clearly visible from above.
The M47 was an American medium tank of the early 1950s, created by combining a new turret with a hull derived from the preceding type. It was armed with a 90 mm gun and had a crew of five. It lasted a fairly short time in American service, but under military aid it reached a great number of allied armies in Europe and beyond, where it served for decades and saw a whole range of local modifications. Tanks of this family had prominent fuel filler necks at the rear of the engine deck, and their caps were shaped and fitted with a handle - on a model this is a detail that injection-molded plastic usually simplifies.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry thoroughly. Carefully sand or cut the original plastic cap off the deck and level the area so that the new part seats across its whole face; work in small steps and keep test-fitting dry. Glue small parts with super glue applied on the tip of a wire rather than straight from the bottle, or the glue will fill the detail. When painting, let the caps be sprayed together with the whole vehicle and bring them out only in the weathering: a darker wash into the groove around the cap, fine traces of fuel and rubbing around the neck and a light chipping of the paint on the handle. Around fuel filler necks on real vehicles, everyday use shows the most.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
