A model of the F-16 fighter in the colors of the American Thunderbirds demonstration squadron, 1:48 scale. Its striking finish makes it a rewarding piece for a display cabinet.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic fighter. You will recognize it by the bubble canopy with no frame above the pilot's head, which gives a view in all directions, by the wing blending smoothly into the fuselage and by the single air intake under the front part of the fuselage. It has been in service since the end of the 1970s and is one of the most widespread Western-built combat aircraft.
The Thunderbirds are the demonstration squadron of the US Air Force. They converted to the F-16 type in 1983, and their machines wear a striking finish: a white base with red and blue stripes and a stylized bird spread across the underside of the fuselage and the wings. It is exactly this paint scheme that makes the model a cabinet piece recognizable at first glance even among other F-16s.
The most demanding part is the white gloss base. It tolerates neither unsanded joints nor sanding marks, because everything shows through it. Fill the joints and sand them perfectly smooth, apply the base in thin coats and let it dry thoroughly. Before applying the decals, varnish the surface to a gloss so that no air bubbles form under the decal, and unify the whole model at the end with a final coat of varnish.
Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
