Skoda Octavia RS Youngtimer, a COBI brick kit

This is a clip-together brick kit from the Polish maker COBI, that is a kit of joined bricks rather than a classic plastic model. The body and the chassis are created by assembling shaped parts, the glazing is made of transparent bricks and the details are handled by printing. The model is therefore complete the moment you click the last part in. The Youngtimer designation refers to the range from the maker devoted to older production cars. The manufacturer also makes the same car in the Executive Edition form, so check which of the two variants you want.

The real subject

The Octavia RS is the sporting version of the Octavia from Skoda of Mlada Boleslav. It is characterized by a turbocharged gasoline engine, a more sportingly tuned and lowered chassis, stronger brakes and external features that distinguish it from the civilian versions: its own bumpers, different wheel rims and the RS badging. It is a car of Czech production, which is what makes it interesting for a collection.

Assembly and display

Assemble it according to the steps of the instructions and push every joint fully home. A joint that is not pushed home shows up only later, when the following assembly will not fit onto it, and it then takes needlessly long to find. With printed parts watch the orientation, because the print faces one way. The assembled model is sturdy, can be picked up and carried and stood on a shelf without support; if you rearrange your collection, it will even take being dismantled and reassembled. Dust just needs sweeping off with a soft brush.
