A finished collector model of the CZ 175 type 501 motorcycle of the late 1950s, in a dark red and light gray color finish.
Responsibility details are not available.
The CZ 175 type 501 is a motorcycle from the postwar production of the CZ brand of Strakonice. The number 175 in the designation refers to the engine displacement and the number after the slash to the type version. Machines of this size formed the backbone of everyday transport in the 1950s: people rode them to work, on trips and with a sidecar, and even years later they are among the best-remembered domestic motorcycles.
This is a finished collector model, not a kit. Nothing on it is glued or painted; it goes straight into a cabinet once unpacked. The color finish combines dark red and light gray, that is the two-tone treatment the machines of this line wore.
On a model of a motorcycle the most vulnerable parts are the wire ones: the handlebars, the levers, the fender stays and the pedals. Pick it up by the frame or by the base, therefore, and never by the handlebars. Sweep the dust off carefully with a soft brush, so that a bristle does not catch a rod or a cable; do not use solvents or cleaning agents on the printing and the badges. Place the model out of direct sunlight, as long exposure turns the colors yellow. Because a motorcycle stands on two points only, it pays to rest it on the base supplied in the cabinet rather than standing it on a slippery glass shelf.
The model will please collectors of domestic motorcycle equipment as well as those who remember the brand.
A finished model is supplied. A cabinet and other accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
