A plastic kit of the German Sturmtiger heavy assault gun in 1:100 scale from Zvezda. It is a snap-fit model from the gaming line intended for tabletop play: the parts are designed to clip together without glue and there are few of them, so the assembly is quick. The model suits wargaming as well as being a collector's piece in a small scale. It is best painted after assembly so that the detail stands out.
The Sturmtiger was a German heavy assault gun built on the chassis of the Tiger I tank. It carried a massive 38 cm rocket launcher, originally developed for the navy, and was intended to destroy fortifications and buildings in urban fighting. The weapon grew out of the lessons of fighting in towns; only a very small number were built, so it is a rare and unusual type.
Even with a snap-fit kit it is worth reinforcing the joints with a drop of glue and cleaning up the mold lines. Paint the running gear and the hull in the base color and then lay on the camouflage scheme. In a small scale a fine wash in the recesses and a light dry brush on the edges work well; overdone effects would swamp such a small model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
