A small model of the entrance structure K-Ba-S 22a, cover name Krok, in 1:1000 scale. It comes from Czech production devoted to models of the Czechoslovak fortifications. It captures the characteristic shapes and the layout of the real structure in a miniature scale suited to collectors and to builders of fortification dioramas.
K-Ba-S 22a Krok was the entrance structure of the Bouda artillery fort, built in the Orlicke Mountains as part of the Czechoslovak border fortifications between 1935 and 1938. The entrance structure formed the main way in for the garrison and the supply route into the underground of the fort. The inner corridor was angled and covered by an embrasure, so that an attacker could not fire into the spaces behind the armored gate. The Bouda fort is among the surviving structures of the Czechoslovak fortifications that are open to visitors.
A model in this scale comes into its own once it is painted in concrete and camouflage shades, with a fine patina bringing out the texture of the surface, and set into a terrain base. Matte shades and earth pigments give it a realistic look.
