A resin accessory set for modelers who want to build the Boeing 727 in landing configuration. It is not a model of an airplane but a set of replacement wing parts: the extended high-lift devices and the sections that go with them, which replace the simplified parts of a plastic kit. The set is cut for the Airfix kit in 1:144 scale.
The Boeing 727 was a three-engine jet airliner with the powerplants grouped at the rear of the fuselage and a T-tail. It entered service in the middle of the 1960s and became famous for an exceptionally rich set of wing devices: the combination of multi-slotted flaps on the trailing edge and devices on the leading edge let it operate from short and higher-altitude airfields. That is exactly why the 727 with its devices extended is a rewarding subject - the difference against a clean wing shows at first glance. The 727-100 and the stretched 727-200 versions differed mainly in the length of the fuselage, while the layout of the wing stayed comparable.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that any residue of mold release agent disappears from the surface; without that neither paint nor glue holds. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter and never break them off. Sanding should be done with breathing protection, ideally wet - resin dust does not belong in the lungs. The corresponding part of the kit wing is cut away and replaced, so mark and try the position of the cut dry first and only then cut. Glue the joints with cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting: it unifies the surface of resin and plastic and reveals imperfections in the seams. The inner surfaces of the devices on airliners used to be light, while the outer surfaces follow the finish of the particular carrier.
This is an accessory set, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
