A figure plastic kit of King Kong in 1:30 scale from the American brand Atlantis. According to its name this is a version in glow-in-the-dark plastic, which shines in the dark for a while once it has been charged with light. It is a model for a display case, not a kit of a vehicle, and it is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
King Kong belongs among the best known characters of film fantasy, and the giant ape became an icon for several generations of viewers at once. In the world of plastic modeling, figures of film monsters form a collecting category of their own, in which technical accuracy counts for less and atmosphere and expression for more.
Glow-in-the-dark plastic has the property that paint covers it and suppresses the effect. Think over in advance, therefore, whether you want to leave the model in the raw version for the sake of the glow or to paint it in the usual way. A compromise is painting only part of the model, or using translucent paints and varnishes. If you paint the whole model, start with a base coat, deal with the fur with a dark base and with a dry brush that pulls the texture out. Glue the joints with thin cement for plastic, and fill and sand over the mold parting lines; on a figure they show clearly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
