This package is not a kit, but an accessory: painting masks for a model of the Bell P-39Q Airacobra fighter in 1:72 scale. The masks do away with the tedious cutting of masking tape - they are stuck on before spraying and taken off once the paint has dried. With the Airacobra it is particularly worth it, because its glazing is not a single sliding canopy but several separate panes and door windows, which would be very laborious to mask with tape.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra is an American single-seat fighter with an unusual layout: the engine is housed behind the cockpit, a drive shaft runs under the floor to the propeller, and the aircraft stands on retractable nose gear, which was not usual at the time it appeared. The cockpit was entered through car-type side doors. The Q version was among the most numerously produced variants of the whole series and differed from the earlier versions above all in the arrangement of its armament.
Degrease the surface and let it cure. Press the masks down all the way around with a blunt point, so no edge is left lifted. On glazing it helps to spray the edge of the mask with the interior color first - any creep then will not show on the final finish. Spray in thin coats and take the masks off shortly after the paint has flashed off, pulling at an angle to the side.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
