A decal sheet in 1:48, the most widespread aviation scale, from the HAD models brand. It contains the markings of the pilot helmets and cloth patches of Ukrainian Su-27 fighter crews. This is not an aircraft model and not a resin accessory, but waterslide decals with which you finish a figure of a pilot or of ground crew beside your model.
The figures enclosed with kits tend to have a helmet and a flight suit in a single color, and the scene looks empty because of it. Yet it is precisely the colored emblem on the helmet and the patch on the shoulder that bring the sight of a finished figure to life. In 1:48 scale these elements are very hard to paint with a brush, because they are tenths of a millimeter across; a decal is thinner than hand painting, has sharp edges and holds a legible shape. The sheet is intended for the single-seat and two-seat versions of the Su-27 alike, as its name states.
First varnish the painted figure with a gloss varnish and let it cure - on a matte surface, silvering would appear under the decal. Cut the decal out close to the motif, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and move it into place with a soft brush. On a rounded helmet and in the folds of fabric a decal softener helps, but apply it in two weak doses and do not touch the surface until it is completely dry, or the film will wrinkle. Finally, unify the whole figure with a matte varnish.
The decals are supplied as a separate accessory. The figures, the aircraft model, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
