The Top Studio set is an accessory to an already purchased plastic kit of the Yamaha YZR-M1 racing motorcycle of the 2009 season in 1:12 scale. The Super Detail-Up Set format is among the most extensive sets from this manufacturer and combines several materials; the manufacturer also makes a smaller detail set for the same year, so it pays to compare which variant your model needs. The model of the motorcycle, paints and glue are not included.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 of the 2009 model year was a works prototype of the premier class of road racing from the era of 800 cc engines. It was powered by a liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine with a crossplane crankshaft, which gives the machine its characteristic sound and a smoother delivery of torque to the rear wheel. The 2009 season was a title-winning one for this machine.
The detail parts are aimed at the areas where a plastic kit simplifies: brake discs and calipers, the chain, the front fork and its inner tubes, the rear shock absorber, the routing of the brake, fuel and cooling lines, wire clips and hardware with realistic bolt heads. Fitting takes place gradually during the build.
Try everything dry first and note down the assembly order, because some of the parts have to be fitted before the frame is closed up. Wash the resin and metal parts in warm soapy water to remove mold release residue, and bond them with super glue. Degrease the metal before painting and prime it with a metal primer. Warm the tubing briefly before bending it, and the curve will then hold its shape and the material will not kink.
