This is not a kit of the motorcycle, but an accessory for a model in 1:12 scale. It addresses two particular elements of a racing machine: the timing transponder and the shift linkage, that is, the rod and the lever connecting the foot gear change to the gearbox. The set is cut for the Honda NSR250 in the configuration of the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
The transponder is the box with which a racing machine reports its passage through the timing loop. On a real motorcycle it hangs in a visible place, typically low at the front, and it is one of the features by which a racing machine is told at first glance from a road one. In kits it tends to be either simplified or missing altogether. The shift linkage, by contrast, is an assembly that is not conspicuous from a distance, but in the view of the left side of the machine the eye finds it at once, and a molded plastic lever with a suggested rod looks coarse there. Together the two move the model toward racing specification without having to take apart anything you already have finished.
Plan both assemblies in advance. Fit the shift rod before you close the left side of the engine up, otherwise you will not get to its anchoring. The transponder, by contrast, stands being fitted almost at the end of the build, because it is mounted from the outside. Cut the original plastic parts off and level the surface, and fit the replacements dry first. Bond with super glue in a minimal amount, applied with the tip of a pin. Choose the paint according to function: the transponder stays clean, because it is put on the machine only before a race, whereas the vicinity of the shift linkage stands a fine dark wash and a trace of lubricant.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a kit in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
