Sometimes a single area is all that stands between a kit and a convincing model, and buying parts one at a time is the efficient answer. This section carries individual upgrades: sprung metal front forks, exhaust headers, photo-etched frets of small items, exhaust springs and panniers for touring machines. Instead of a comprehensive set you choose the one thing your model genuinely lacks and build the rest from the box.
Below you will find which parts make the most visible difference and how to handle metal components during assembly.

The logic is straightforward: identify the weakest area of the kit and fix that. On a motorcycle it is usually the front end, the exhaust or a cluster of small brackets around the engine. Everything else can stay as moulded without anyone noticing, which keeps a build moving and keeps the work manageable. It also means you learn one technique at a time rather than facing etched brass, resin and turned metal all in the same evening.
The most popular item here. Metal sprung forks replace a plastic moulding, hold the geometry of the front wheel properly and make the machine look alive on its stand. They are produced mainly for the larger 1:9 motorcycle kits and are tied to specific kits, so check compatibility. When fitting them, keep both sliders truly parallel, or the wheel will sit out of line with the frame.
Resin and metal exhausts have crisper edges and thinner outlet walls than injection moulding allows. Etched frets add brackets, mesh and the small fittings around the engine, and they are usually cut for a named machine, so verify the type and version. Polish the exhaust outlet to a shine; it is the first place a viewer's eye lands.
Metal behaves nothing like styrene, so adjust the method rather than the force. Use cyanoacrylate or epoxy, and degrease metal parts before painting or nothing will hold. Place small items with tweezers, pre-drill holes with a fine bit, and leave glued joints to cure overnight before handling.
