Photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Honda VT250F motorcycle in 1:12 scale. An accessory for a kit, for the places where plastic runs into its limits.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched part is made by etching the shape chemically through a thin metal sheet. It thereby reaches a thickness that injection-molded plastic cannot offer, and the edge stays sharp. The set is intended for a model of the Honda VT250F motorcycle in the 1984 form in 1:12 scale. The extent of the parts and the kit it is tuned for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A model of a motorcycle is a different job from an aircraft or a tank. There is no closed fuselage here to hide a poor joint in; every part stays in plain sight from all sides and the frame is visible right through. Thin metal therefore comes into its own exactly where a thick plastic imitation immediately gives the scale away. Reckon with that when planning the procedure: work out the order of painting and assembly in advance, because some places cannot be reached once the frame is put together.
Take the elements off with a sharp blade on a hard surface, because scissors will bend the metal. Make the bends on a straight edge or in a bender, in a single movement where possible. They are glued with super glue applied in the tiniest amount; the tip of a toothpick suits the dosing. Before painting, degrease the parts and lay down a base coat, otherwise the finish will not hold on smooth metal.
It is aimed at the modeler for whom the contents of the box are not enough and who wants to refine the places everyone looks at on a motorcycle. The package contains photo-etched parts; a kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
