It is not a model of the car, but a set for working two connected assemblies up: the dampers of the suspension and the front bulkhead of the chassis, that is, the place where the elements of the front suspension and the controls converge into the monocoque.
The real subject
The McLaren MP4/6 was the Formula 1 car of the McLaren team for the 1991 season with a Honda twelve-cylinder engine. The front part of the car hides under the body an arrangement of dampers and rockers that is visible on a model with removable bodywork and at the same time is among the most complex places of the whole build in terms of shape.
This assembly has to be dealt with before the nose is closed up; the dampers cannot be reached later. Put everything together dry and check whether the front suspension holds the correct angle and height. Deburr the photo-etched parts after nipping and bend them along the engraved grooves step by step. Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surface; sand with respiratory protection. Degrease the metal parts and apply a primer for metal. It is bonded with super glue in small doses. The dampers benefit from a contrast between the body and the polished shaft, which can simply be left in a metallic look.
