A detailing accessory from the Japanese brand Top Studio to a plastic kit of the McLaren MP4/6 Formula 1 car in 1:12 scale. It is not a model of the car, but a replacement for a single assembly: the drive shafts running from the gearbox to the wheels. It is precisely these parts that on a large model carry a considerable share of the weight of the rear section, and a plastic configuration of them bends over time.
The real subject
The McLaren MP4/6 was the Formula 1 car of the McLaren team for the 1991 season with a Honda twelve-cylinder engine. In the large 1:12 scale the model is usually built with the rear section exposed, so the suspension and the drive shafts stay visible.
Fit the drive shafts dry and check the track and the ride height before you glue anything; on large models even a small deviation shows as a tilted wheel. If the set contains resin parts, wash the mold release agent off them in lukewarm soapy water and cut the casting blocks off with a saw, not by breaking. Deburr and degrease the metal parts. It is bonded with super glue; before painting, apply a primer suitable for the given material. The drive shafts are rewarding for a patina, because on a real car they tend to be dusty and dulled, but proceed sparingly, so that the shape stays discernible.
