Unlike the more generally named boxes of the same series, here the version is given directly in the name, so it is clear which form you are building. The small scale makes the model a compact piece for a display case.
The Strikemaster is the combat variant of the Jet Provost T.Mk 5 trainer. It keeps the cabin with side-by-side seats and the single Rolls-Royce Viper jet engine, but has strengthened construction and pylons under the wing. The individual Mk. numbers correspond to export customers; the Mk.82 version was delivered to the Omani air force, which used the machines for training and for light combat duties in a demanding desert and mountain environment. Service in such conditions is precisely what gives the model room for discreet weathering.
In 1:144 scale cleanliness decides. Cut the parts off with a sharp tool, sand the joints instead of filling them heavily, and protect the fine detail. Paint the cabin and close it up early, and mask the clear part. Apply the paint in thin coats, so the model does not lose its shape. The painting and the decals will take the most work: varnish the surface under the decals to a gloss, then work the decals in with a decal softener. Desert schemes suit a fine lightening of the upper surfaces and a very thin wash into the engraved lines; strong effects would look coarse at this scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
