A turned metal barrel of 76.2 mm caliber with a muzzle brake for a model of the British A34 Comet tank in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A34 Comet was a British cruiser tank of the end of the Second World War, the last development stage before the postwar Centurion. Compared with older British machines it received a markedly more effective 76.2 mm gun, whose designation reflects its kinship with the 17 pdr anti-tank gun. The barrel ending in a muzzle brake is the most conspicuous feature of the whole turret.
The set brings a turned metal barrel with a muzzle brake as a replacement for the part from a kit. The turned part is perfectly straight, has a correctly hollowed muzzle and carries no trace of the joint between two halves, which on a plastic barrel is hard to sand away because it is cylindrical. Details of how the muzzle brake is rendered are given by the manufacturer.
Cut the plastic barrel off at the root, level the surface and pre-drill the hole as needed with a bit of the matching diameter. Offer the new barrel up dry and check that it is in line with the turret and that the muzzle is not tilted. Glue it with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minimal amount. Wash and degrease the metal before painting, otherwise the finish will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling.
The barrel alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
