The plastic kit 1:144 Avia S-199 Bubble Canopy from Mark I. A model of the postwar Czechoslovak fighter in the version with the bubble canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:144 scale from Mark I. The set captures the postwar Czechoslovak Avia S-199 fighter in the variant with the bubble canopy, which gave a better view out of the cockpit. The package is laid out as two models in one box. Clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet are included.
The Avia S-199 was a postwar Czechoslovak fighter that came about by combining an airframe derived from a German fighter with a Junkers Jumo 211 bomber engine. The unsuitable combination of powerplant and propeller earned the aircraft the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. Despite its contradictory flying qualities the S-199 became one of the first fighters of the Israeli Air Force and took part in the fighting of 1948. The version with the bubble canopy improved the pilot's view to the sides and to the rear.
Glue the small parts of a 1:144 kit with tiny drops of thin cement and clean them up with a sharp knife. Pay particular attention to the clear bubble canopy, which in a small scale does a great deal for the final impression. A primer, subtle shades and decals set on a gloss coat are recommended. The pair of models in the box makes it possible to build two different color schemes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
